How to Block (and Unblock) Someone on Spotify

You can follow other users on Spotify to have their activity show in your feed. You can browse their playlists and see who else they follow. If you're a social listener, this is a great feature. But sometimes you might want to stop someone following you on Spotify.

If that's the case, you can block another user on Spotify to stop them seeing your profile and activity. Here's how you do that.

How to Block Someone on Spotify

For a long time, the only way to block someone on Spotify was to contact customer support. While you could unfollow someone, it didn't stop them from accessing your profile and browsing your playlists or recent listening activity.

Often, it meant that you had to transfer your Spotify music and playlists to a new account if there was someone you were trying to avoid. That was completely inconvenient. Blocking someone should be a standard process on any app that includes a social element.

Thankfully, it's now much easier to block another user on Spotify. When you block them, that person will no longer be able to follow you, or see your profile, playlists, or listening activity.

If that person is following you, blocking them will remove them from your follower's list. However, you can still find and view their profile if you wish—that is, unless they block you too.

To block someone on Spotify, either on desktop or mobile:

Navigate to their profile.
Select the more options icon (three dots).
Select Block.
Select Block again to confirm.

How to Unblock Someone on Spotify

Did you accidentally block someone on Spotify? Or changed your mind? Don't worry, it's simple to unblock someone on Spotify.

Navigate to their profile.
Select the more options icon (three dots).
Select Unblock.

If this user was following you before you blocked them, unblocking won't automatically make them follow you again; they'll need to do that manually if desired.
